Old units and worktops, wall tiles, lino or tired flooring, and sometimes a wall coming out to open the space all need clearing before the new kitchen goes in. What a kitchen strip-out produces
Base and wall units are bulky and break down into a lot of board, worktops are heavy and awkward, and there is usually a layer of old tiles and flooring underneath it all. If a stud wall or a chimney breast is coming out, the rubble lifts the weight considerably. The appliances that cannot go in
This is worth flagging early. A fridge, freezer or fridge-freezer cannot go in a skip, and nor can an electric oven, hob or washing machine, because electrical and refrigeration items have to be handled separately. Set them to one side and we will point you to the right route. Everything else from the kitchen is sorted at our own yard and a strong share is recovered through our environmental and recycling operation rather than sent to landfill.
Coordinating with your fitter
Kitchen fits run to a tight schedule because you are without a working kitchen while it happens. Having the skip ready for the strip-out day means the old units are gone before the new ones arrive, and the room stays clear for the fitter rather than filling with bagged-up waste.
